We grabbed our passports and headed off to NYC this past Sunday to buy for Fall 2017. These appointments were for an early delivery of July, just in time for us to take shots with the new product for our Fall Lookbook. Here's a quick behind the scenes play-by-play of how it's done.
We started off early and flew out of Pearson International in Toronto to Laguardia in New York, and went straight to Boglioli's North American HQ in SOHO. We were greeted with espressos and the softest tailored garments on the planet. Boglioli is a relative new kid on the block, having established the factory in Gambara, Italy in 1974, where the Boglioli brothers branched out and created the eponymous label with the goal of delivering a "dressed down sartorialism" in 2002. The niche appeal and focused collections keep the brand out of the high street spotlight, but industry insiders and discerning sartorialists have flocked to the brand ever since the launch for its cutting edge concepts and superior functionality. Take a peek at a few highlight pieces from the showroom:
Midtown was our next stop, where the Eleventy showroom on the 9th floor overlooks the ever-bustling Bryant Park. The motto "First Class, Made in Italy" rings true with this fresh face in the luxury market. Comparisons to Brunello Cucinelli fly around the industry, and while certain pieces can be mistaken for the ultra-luxury brand, Eleventy defines itself through youthful, aggressive silhouettes and expertly tailored mixed media showstoppers. Take a look at small round up of what's to come for Fall 2017:
Our last stop before flying home was Ermenegildo Zegna's contemporary (and less expensive) brand Z Zegna, located a stone's throw from Trump Tower near Central Park. We focus in on the strengths in the collection, which are the suit and sport jacket categories, but that doesn't mean we don't like to play around along the way. Here are a few highlight pieces from the upcoming FW17 collection:
